Reebok EasyTone shoes are on trend right now with their balance pads which, as advertisements claim, create instability and "tone through increased muscle activation" in glutes, hamstrings and calves.
In theory, it makes sense that an unstable surface could activate your leg muscles in a different way, but does it allow it to make the hips and the thighs more toned? There are only a few objective scientific studies to prove whether this is possible (see article on EasyTones ) but science has already proven that to get toned legs nothing beats regular cardio exercises and strength training. You may find EasyTones comfortable, but they will never replace a regular workout.
DESCRIPTION
The Reebok Easytones are shoes designed with “balance” pads under the shoes. The idea is that these pods create a slight instability that forces the muscles in your legs to work harder, putting more strain on your muscles. Reebok claims that these shoes will improve muscle tone in the glutes by 28% and by 11% in the hamstrings and calves. The extras in their ads are sure to make you believe that you end up with such a fabulous butt, that you won't hesitate to wear really short shorts. However, we were unable to find the actual study on which these numbers are based. Even today, there is no evidence that these claims are true (see article on toning shoes ).
These shoes are more intended for walking and do not provide the support and stability you need for high impact exercises like running or for activities with a lot of lateral movement like tennis or basketball. Reebok offers different types of EasyTones, including a running version and slides
Many users have commented on their experience with EasyTones and most of the reports are positive. Many of them say the shoes are comfortable, especially for people who wear them all day. They are indeed comfortable to walk on, but that is probably the only activity we would advise you to do with these shoes. However, these shoes are not for everyone and some users report numbness. in the feet or toes. Others have experienced pain, sore legs and calves after wearing them and some have even had pain in the lower back. It is hard to say exactly what caused these problems, but they can be related to pre-existing injuries, differences in arch, or the length of time users wore or used these shoes (activities that require another type of support: running, tennis, etc.) For people who already have pain in the lower limbs, talk to your doctor before purchasing these shoes. If you already have them, we recommend that you wear them for short periods of time to see how your body responds. Some users have also reported deflated "pods" which can happen with any shoe with air-filled pockets. Check with your retailer about their return / replacement policy before purchasing these shoes.

BOTTOM LINE
Based on our reviews, we could only give these shoes a low rating, not because they are bad, but because the promises made in their advertisements are broken. It's certainly possible that these shoes will activate your leg muscles more (and you'll feel the effects), but that doesn't mean you'll have more toned glutes and thighs because of it.
Your experience with this shoe will no doubt depend on why you are buying them. If you are looking for drastic changes in your body or want to look like those chubby butt women in EasyTone ads, no shoe can make you like that. What we know is that one pair of shoes is not enough to change the shape of your hips, buttocks, or thighs, except, perhaps, if you tie them to your thighs with other weights to perform squats and lunges. If you want to tone your body, you will need to build muscle with strength training and lose body fat with cardio and a healthy diet. You may walk more with the EasyTones which can help burn more calories, and that's always a good thing. However, don't expect much or you might be disappointed. shoes because you want a comfortable shoe that offers a different kind of support, then you can find your happiness with the EasyTones.
