The SixBros 06B / 260 professional inversion table is a device for people with low back pain. The inversion table training would indeed seem to be an effective method of therapy against back disorders. This table is designed to decrease the residual tension on the spine and discs by decreasing the force of gravity and has the effect of relieving the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine.
Many people suffer from temporary low back pain, recurrent pain for a few weeks or even a few months or even momentary blockages of the back. New product claims to help reduce those low back pain and back pain, the inversion table.
So what about those inversion tables? Are they really effective and can they help reduce low back pain? This is what we will try to see. Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common causes of visits to your doctor after the common cold. It can be the result of a number of factors, including poor posture (sitting or standing), heavy lifting, or repetitive flexing. If you've ever had low back pain, you've probably realized that thousands of people like you suffer from it. It also means that many people have tried many different treatments and “remedies” to help reduce pain and improve posture. Today we will see if the inversion tables and more specifically the SixBros 06B / 260 table can play this role.
How it works
An inversion table is nothing more than a swivel board connected to a metal frame. It is this rocking motion - the table slowly pivoting backwards, tilting the body - that relieves and stretches the back and spine. By overturning your body and therefore the stresses of gravity, you are able to "unload" the bones, joints and discs in your lower back. This position allows to decrease the residual tension of the force of gravity according to the angle of inclination chosen and was thought to create a tensile force through the spine. It is this pulling force that will reduce back pain. It's easier to understand why the other name given to inversion tables or inversion therapy is gravitational traction. Inversion (or reversal) therapy therefore appears to be an effective back pain treatment method / method in order to decrease residual strain on the lower spine. Numerous private clinical trials that have been published in medical journals demonstrate the effectiveness of reversal therapy by increasing the distance between the discs. This would have the effect of significantly relieving the back disorders. It is also known that relief of the spine can be achieved using aqua therapy.
Description
The SixBros 06B / 260 inversion table is a so-called professional table with a maximum tilt angle of 160 ° (with the belt) and 180 ° without the belt. This angulation makes it possible, as we have seen previously, to vary the traction force and therefore the constraints in the back and the spine in order to relieve them. The device with its important dimensions, length of 146 cm, width of 78 cm and height of 159 cm has a good base on the ground which gives it great stability. Ergonomic handles, a stable and robust steel frame and a strap ensure optimum safety during movement. The device is equipped with curved supports for the ankles and padded foam rollers for the upper face of the feet for effective support. A self-locking roller joint with 3 positions allows the control of speed and rotary movements, not to mention the swivel bearing.
No less than 20 different depth settings are offered to suit a wide range of users. The cost of inversion tables generally ranges between € 100 and € 400. The 06B / 260 professional table from SixBros sells for around 150 €, which makes it a mid-range table.
Regarding the overall appearance, the whole is correctly manufactured, except for the screws.
This device, although intended for all types of users, requires good body management and good coordination to control the movement. . In use, first impressions are good. It is easy to use and once properly "calibrated" the movement is flexible and well accompanied (very fast 180 ° inversion and extreme sensitivity). The 06B / 260 professional table is therefore entirely satisfactory on this point.
Small negative point, the lever allowing to adjust the support of the ankles is a little short and when you want to unhook, you have to twist, especially to large templates.
Assembly / assembly
The manual is quite simple and relatively clear, it allows you to assemble everything alone (although an additional pair of hands is welcome). The assembly could therefore be considered as simple and logical, if there were not, however, the following minor inconveniences.
For example, you must beware, during assembly, of the uprights and arms which, sometimes, have been reversed. Then, although basic tools are provided, it is preferable to have your own tools as their quality is poor. The major problem, however, concerns the screws. The 20 screws (M8x55mm) supplied are very poorly made: at the end the first threads are twisted and hardly fit into the nuts. You can replace the set with M8x60mm screws for example, but this is not what you would expect with a camera still sold for 140 €. Otherwise, we recommend to "sacrifice" a nut and try to pass all the screws in, to remake the thread, before mounting them on the frame and not to tighten the screws definitively until the frame has been mounted.
Performance
Most tests indicate that inversion therapy causes some tensile force through the lumbar spine. One study found that the separation is approximately 3 mm between the lumbar vertebrae during inversion therapy. The question is, does traction help low back pain? Most studies on the effectiveness of traction for LBP are of poor quality (unreliable) and the few quality studies that have been done are unable to demonstrate that lumbar traction helps low back pain. The results indicate that traction for acute, subacute and chronic low back pain has no demonstrated benefit. Conclusion, while lumbar traction does not seem to harm people with low back pain, it does not seem to help them much either. To date, no other "serious" study has been published to refute these findings. However, even if according to the scientific studies carried out, the effect of inversion tables seems limited or even nil for low back pain, the fact remains that an often positive effect is observed by many users. And even if they do not make the pain completely go away, they can partly relieve it, which is not negligible when the pain is chronic. If the use of the inversion table therefore seems to offer certain advantages and conclusive results, they remain difficult to measure and above all specific to each user.
What Professionals Recommend for Lower Back Pain Relief
Many specialists have sought to design the best treatment for acute nonspecific low back pain, and it seems that the best treatment is to stay as active as possible. For subacute and chronic low back pain, studies show that exercise has a demonstrated benefit. They recommend continuation of normal activities for acute nonspecific low back pain and therapeutic exercises for chronic, subacute and postoperative low back pain.
The SixBros inversion table is therefore overall a quality table, we can simply regret that the device is not foldable because with these dimensions, (146 x 78 and a height of 159 cm) it remains very bulky. Finally, the price corresponds to what you would expect from a mid-range table.
