The Vibram FiveFingers is a minimalist athletic shoe that mimics the feeling of being 'barefoot' during activities such as running, fitness training, martial arts, yoga and Pilates.
The manufacturer claims that by putting your feet in contact with the earth, you can move around in a more natural, healthy way. These shoes are supposed to improve your balance, flexibility and posture.

DESCRIPTION

Vibram has been one of the driving forces behind the growing popularity of the barefoot shoe . Believing that barefoot exercise is more natural and comfortable, many practitioners opt for a minimalist shoe that mimics the feeling of being barefoot while protecting their feet from imperfections in the surface they train on avoiding cuts or cuts. other injuries.

Description

The Vibram FiveFingers is available in several models. This shoe features a sculpted non-marking sole that wraps around the underside of the foot and a polyamide fabric that wraps around the toes and top of the foot. An elastic band that attaches to the heel allows users to adjust the protection and tightness. Like gloves, each toe has its own “envelope”.

FEATURES

Comfort / Ergonomics 3.0/5

Needless to say, these shoes require a some time to get used to and not everyone will enjoy them. They provide surprisingly good arch support and the sole is thick enough to reduce /dissipate impact with rocks or stones underfoot. (It's also tough enough to withstand glass, but we haven't tried to confirm that.) Waterproof and machine washable, the Vibram FiveFingers are great. Stands for walking on rocky slopes or climbing on rocks. And, for those who are convinced of the benefits, they provide adequate characteristics for running long distances. Although the manufacturer recommends this shoe for yoga and pilates, most people still prefer to do these activities barefoot.

PROS

  • Avant-garde design and high-tech materials
  • Waterproof and machine washable
  • Ideal for walking on rocky slopes or climbing rocks

CONS

  • Only suitable for people with" "standard" "foot shapes
  • Requires a lot of time to getting used to the feel of the shoe
  • Not recommended for people with heel problems

BOTTOM LINE 3.0/5

One of the challenges we have encountered with the Vibram FiveFingers is that its shape makes it difficult to adapt to people who do not have "standard" foot shapes. For example, people with the larger second toe may feel uncomfortable. Likewise, the lack of heel cushioning can be uncomfortable for people with heel spurs or other heel problems. In any case, we recommend that you test these shoes before buying them. ( see article on barefoot shoes )
