The Ab Rocket takes inspiration from crunch movements, understands classic abs, and it helps you do them by making the ascent easier. This machine promises to help you perform crunches by keeping your back straight by providing evenly distributed resistance when you return to a sitting position. The manufacturer even claims that the device massages your back while you exercise.
Needless to say how surprised we were when we heard this selling point about a machine supposed to tone your abs.
The Ab Rocket has 3 resistance levels that help you to varying degrees during exercise. However, the resistance is weak enough and even ineffective to provide good support even at the highest level. Changing resistance levels takes longer and is not very practical. The spool is harder than necessary and requires too much force to move it.
Difficult to store and move
Anytime you want to compact the Ab Rocket, you have to unscrew the whole set, which takes longer, half an hour. The same amount of time is required to screw it back on. To complete half an hour of training, you will spend double the time setting up and taking the device apart.
No effective massage
Unsurprisingly, the cushions provided at the back do not give the promised massage.
The neck support and backrest
The Ab Rocket is marketed with one size only and is only suitable for people whose height is 1.78m and less. If you are taller, you will not have enough back and neck support, which makes exercising very difficult and potentially dangerous. Even for short people, it is not possible to adjust the neck support which may make it uncomfortable.
One-dimensional exercise
Your abdominal muscles are complex and require more than just regular abdominals to reduce body fat. The Ab Rocket provides one-dimensional exercise that is too focused for you to burn calories.

The Ab Rocket is offered at around € 60. With that money, you could get a lot more benefits by buying a pair of running shoes and going for a run or joining a gym. Even if you buy the Ab Rocket, you will need to purchase other devices to allow you to properly work your core belt and lose weight.
