COMPARATOR / Balance Board
Initially developed to aid in the training of high-risk sports, balance plates quickly became popular in other disciplines and especially in the world of fitness and are nowadays used by all types of athletes to improve proprioception, l 'balance and strengthen the joints.
There are 3 main families of Balance Board (balance boards) each with their own characteristics and which therefore have slightly different purposes.
Rocker boards are generally the best boards to start with since they only allow sideways rocking board-like movement. The Rocker Board-Roller is similar to the rocker board but adds an extra degree of difficulty by using a cylindrical roller which is usually independent of the board itself. And finally, the Wobble Board, widely used in the fields of physical therapy and athletic training, it relies on 360 degree movement.
Instability / Degree of freedom
Creates controlled instability, that's where the difficulty lies. The degrees of freedom give an indication of the difficulty of balance. You must therefore choose your board according to your needs. Some boards are more suitable for beginners, others for more advanced users.
Even if this criterion is subjective (each person will obtain different results) we try to draw a complete picture of the contribution of such type of equipment.
This is essential for us, because even if instability is the goal, it must be controlled.
We wobbly testers take care of it! We test the products by following rehabilitation and strengthening protocols developed by health professionals.
Our selection criteria focused on ergonomics, precision, placement, safety, finish and design.
